Defense of Licensed Professionals

If you are concerned about a regulatory complaint or investigation, or the threatened suspension or revocation of your professional license, seek counsel as soon as possible. Early intervention normally decreases legal expenses and substantially increases the likelihood of obtaining a favorable resolution.

We recognize that the stakes are very high in this area of practice because a client’s livelihood can be put in jeopardy. Handling the matter quickly and effectively is the best defense against becoming involved in a lengthy investigation which can have damaging consequences for one’s professional reputation and peace of mind. If your license is threatened or your reputation is being challenged, you need a defense attorney you can trust before the matter gets out of hand.

A significant portion of our law practice is devoted to defending licensed professionals, and our success in this area reflects Hal Harlowe’s history with and knowledge of the system.

Harlowe was the first attorney hired to serve as the Director of the Legal Services Unit of the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing. The system and procedures he established for the investigation and prosecution of licensed professionals formed the basis for those now employed by the Department of Regulation and Licensing’s Division of Enforcement. Hal’s intimate knowledge of the complex operation of this system has been an invaluable asset in defending current clients.

Years later, as the Chairperson of the Governor's Task Force on the Discipline of Licensed Professionals, Hal co-authored the report that guided the reorganization of procedures for handling complaints against physicians and other professionals in Wisconsin. He led the effort to increase the fairness and effectiveness of the investigative system, and for providing due process to licensed professionals facing complaints. Our law office uses Hal’s extensive experience and expertise in this area to protect and defend licensed professionals in revocation and suspension actions.
